DMC Technology celebrates 25 years in IT industry

DMC Technology Group, a Toledo-based full-service IT company that offers solutions including hardware, software, programming, networking, virtualization, and cloud computing, is celebrating its 25th year of business in the IT industry.

The company began its operations in 1993, serving Ohio and Michigan’s technology needs. DMC offers IT solutions that utilize the latest technology from industry leaders and customizes them for businesses. DMC will get to know a business and its IT needs, then design a customized solution to promote business growth and efficient operations.

DMC serves a variety of industries, including manufacturing/distribution, local government, professional services, education, healthcare, commercial businesses, and non-profit agencies. According to the company, it takes pride in providing cutting edge technology and expert IT service teams.

Pat Sheehan, president and owner of DMC, said, “I think what sets us apart, and what we are most proud of is our employee commitment and longevity. There are nine of us that have been with the company for 25 years and several others who have been here a long time. Our customers find great value in that.”

Sheehan noted that the company – currently employing 28 people – has continued to grow over the years in a number of ways, including diversifying its portfolio of offerings and continuing to hire talented personnel. He noted that the company provides two kinds of services – one being application development and the other being setting up servers, security, and infrastructure for businesses.

According to Sheehan, DMC’s Application Development Business Unit utilizes the industry’s leading development environments from IBM and Microsoft.

“If you need to present existing data in new ways and new formats, DMC can provide the technical expertise. DMC not only provides the technical programming expertise, but we also provide experienced business application developers who understand business requirements and integration.”

As for the servers, security, and the infrastructure side of the business, the company has a range of different tools and services that it provides to businesses, including data center and security, virtualization, disaster recovery, high availability (HA), backup solutions, cloud services, and managed services. Sheehan noted that over the years, DMC has added offerings from Dell, Cisco, Microsoft, and others to stay ahead of the technology curve.

“We’ve really just made sure we stay true to our core values, one of which is to always do the right thing for our employees and customers. With that as a foundation, we then focus on giving them quality solutions, and as technology changes, we learn and grow and make the necessary changes. That process is never-ending, so it’s something we’re used to,” said Sheehan.

When speaking to the changing trends in the IT industry and what DMC is doing to address the changes, Sheehan said, “One of the biggest trends right now in our industry is a need for better security and we continue to address those needs for our customers through new technology offerings, new service offerings, and increased education. The other big trend that is going on in our industry is a movement to cloud technologies. We consider ourselves to be the lead firm in the area with deployment of customers to Office 365 (Microsoft Cloud). Cloud is not the right solution for everybody, and we work with our customers to determine where it does and doesn’t make sense.”

The company recently celebrated its 25th anniversary with an employee dinner and Sheehan looks to his employees for the company’s continued success.

“I feel very blessed to be able to be in business for 25 years. It’s a big accomplishment. If you would ask our employees what the key element of our success is, I think they’d tell you they look at each other as family and friends. They just have a really strong and deep commitment to helping each other out and helping our customers out,” said Sheehan.
